From Pioneering Project to a Symbol of Circularity: The Arkona Met Mast Foundation was dismantled and brought ashore to the Port of Mukran for Material Recycling.

The Arkona Offshore Wind Farm is located 35 km northeast of the island of Rügen.

The Met Mast provided valuable meteorological and oceanographic data for Arkona Offshore Wind Farm for almost 15 years and at the end of its lifetime, the lattice tower was removed. Now, the foundation structure has also been carefully and sustainably decommissioned. The gravity-based structure stood approximately 30 metres high, in around 24 metres of water depth, with a total weight of more than 2,500 tonnes. The Topside weighed 165 tonnes.

Scaldis Scope:

  • Prepare the Topside for removal.
  • Prepare the Topside ↔ Column separation by a remote controlled cutting tool.
  • Install temporary lifting aids (sling hang-off structures) at the Ice-Cone.
  • Assist our consortium partner with the installation of the subsea lifting-aids and subsea lifting slings.
  • Remove Topside from its supporting Column, in-hook transfer to Mukran-port and Load-in onto the Quay.
  • Lift-off Tripod foundation, including Column, from the Seabed, in-hook transfer to Mukran-port and Load-in onto the Quay.
  • Decommissioning and disposal of Topside, Column and Tripod foundation.
