The 370MW Norther project will be Belgium’s largest offshore wind farm and is located off the Belgian coast, 23km from the port of Zeebruges. Its annual output is set to be 1.4bn KWh, which will be sufficient to supply 400,000 households with energy. The farm will include 1 substation and 44 MHI Vestas V164-8.4MW wind turbines.
Scaldis Scope
Scaldis was awarded by ENGIE Fabricom the contract for the installation of the offshore high voltage station of the Norther offshore wind farm. The 4-deck offshore substation was fabricated at their fabrication yard in Hoboken, Belgium.
At the yard in Hoboken the topside was loaded onto a transportation barge. After completing the seafastening the topside started her trip to the installation location.
When the transportation barge with OHVS arrived in the field, the topside structure was lifted from the barge by our new built heavy lift vessel Gulliver. The topside was lifted above the monopile foundation, positioned, and lowered safely onto the transition piece.
