The Arcadis Ost offshore wind farm (OWF) is situated in the German sector of the Baltic Sea, approximately 10 nautical miles off the north-east coast of the island of Rügen. The Arcadis Ost OWF is being constructed by Parkwind and comprises 27 Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs) and one Offshore Sub Station (OSS). The OWF will add 257 MW to the country’s offshore capacity.
Scaldis Scope
Scaldis was awarded the installation contract for the offshore substation of the Arcadis Ost OWF by Bladt Industries. Bladt Industries had fabricated this 2250 t substation on it’s yard in Aalborg, where after it was loaded onto a barge and sailed to the offshore site.
The operation was executed as a dual crane lift by HLV Gulliver on DP2. The rigging consisted of a lifting beam, with the forks aligned above the topside’s lifting points (trunnions), to which the lower rigging (dyneema grommets) was connected.
Scaldis has been involved in similar scope in the Baltic Sea in 2018 on the Kriegers Flak project.
