Wintershall Noordzee B.V. has awarded Scaldis the decommissioning of the L5-B platform in the Southern North Sea.
Scaldis successfully and safely lifted the topside, followed by the removal of the jacket. The topside was transported to the disposal yard on a transport barge, towed by a tug. After lifting, the jacket was transported to the disposal yard in the crane hooks. Following offloading of the jacket on the quayside. HLV Gulliver re-lifted the topside from the transport barge, for a final set down on the disposal yard’s quayside.

The scope included engineering, preparations, removal and disposal of the L5-B platform.

The execution of the works was divided in 5 phases:
1. Removal Plan & Removal Engineering (onshore)
2. Offshore Preparations
3. Platform Removals
4. Seabed Cleaning & Survey
5. Disposal of all materials
